The World : Turkey Orders 11 Executed
Eleven people were sentenced to death and 362 were ordered imprisoned in a mass trial in Turkey of members of the leftist underground organization Dev Yol, the semiofficial Anatolian News Agency said. All were convicted by a martial-law court in the eastern town of Erzurum on charges of killing 25 people and wounding 20 and carrying out guerrilla attacks in northeast Turkey before the 1980 military coup. Of those jailed, 10 were given life terms and the others up to 24 years in prison.
