Test-Firing Area Set Up for New Trident Missile

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. —
The Navy Friday dedicated a $30-million launching complex for the Trident 2, a new submarine-launched nuclear missile.
Unarmed Trident 2 missiles will be test-fired from the complex starting in 1987, Capt. William F. Bancroft said. The Navy plans to start loading the missiles into the submarines in 1989.
