Laser Precision Corp., an Irvine manufacturer of laser and optical test equipment, announced Friday that it lost $97,200 in the third quarter.
For the period ended Sept. 30, the company had sales of $2.1 million, 5% higher than the $2 million recorded in the year-ago period. During the comparable quarter last year, the company lost $89,300.
For the first nine months of the year, the company lost $390,000, compared with losses of $783,700 in the year-ago period. Sales were $6.4 million, 16% above last year’s sales of $5.5 million.
The company attributed the sales increase to a continued strong demand for its fiber optic test equipment. It said its cost-cutting efforts throughout the year were responsible for narrowing losses during the first nine months.
