Datapower Inc. Reports $231,000 Loss in Quarter

Share

Blaming the slowdown in personal computer sales and the cancellation of several orders, Datapower Inc. of Santa Ana announced Friday that it lost $231,000 in its second quarter on sales that plunged 66% from the year before.

Sales for the period ended Sept. 30 were $1.4 million, compared to $4.3 million in the year-ago period. Last year the company, which manufacturers power supplies for electronic devices, earned $210,000 in the comparable quarter.

The company attributed the sales decline and loss to the overall decline in the personal computer market, including the cancellation of purchases by several major customers.

For the first half of the company’s fiscal year, Datapower lost $551,000, compared to a profit of $583,000 last year. Revenues were $3.2 million, down 62% from the $8.5 million recorded last year.
