The structural engineers who designed the skywalks of the Kansas City Hyatt Regency Hotel’s skywalks, which collapsed and killed 114 people in 1981, were guilty of “gross negligence, misconduct and unprofessional conduct,” an administrative hearing commissioner ruled. Commissioner James Deutsch recommended that the Missouri Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors take disciplinary action against the engineers, which could include suspension or revocation of their licenses.
