Reservoir Project Bid Accepted: The Fountain Valley City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to award a contract to the second-lowest bidder for a reservoir construction project. The Department of Public Works staff made the recommendation to prevent a water shortage over the summer, said Wayne Osborne, public works director. The lowest bid was rejected because the firm was not as experienced with this type of project, he said. The council awarded the contract to Taymech Corp. of Santa Ana, which bid almost $500,000 for the project. The work will include renovating the interior of the pumping station located at Ellis Avenue and Bushard Street and replacing three pumps and three engines at the 5-million-gallon reservoir, he said. Construction is expected to begin next month and be completed by July.
