Irish Parliament OKs Ulster Pact

DUBLIN, Ireland —
The Irish Parliament today approved the Anglo-Irish agreement giving the Irish Republic its first formal consultative role in running the troubled British province of Northern Ireland.
The vote was 88 to 75, about equal to the margin predicted by aides of Prime Minister Garret FitzGerald. Also today, Northern Irish Protestants failed in their attempt to mount a legal challenge to the accord. A high court judge in London turned down an application from Protestant Unionists to review its legality.
