Sales of California Lottery tickets passed the $500-million mark after the first 50 days of operation, lottery director Mark Michalko announced in Sacramento. Although proclaiming these sales a “resounding success story,” he predicted a “slight tapering off” in coming months as public enthusiasm begins to wane.
