In the Fold

My heart sank when I saw yet another magazine coming to the house. But I have to say that the very first issue converted me, what with the marvelous article by Richard Rodriguez (whose book I will look for)--”Adios to the Melting Pot.” Thoughtful and excellent and illustrated with the greatest pictures. It’s the kind of article that heightens your perception of the surroundings you take for granted--especially in this vastly diverse population in L.A.

The delightful one-pager by Fallon Evans, “Those Stern and Impossible Questions” ( Oct. 13 ), was really marvelous. I do hope you can keep inserting these wonderful surprises. Thank you for the great writing.
