European Dog’s Life

Referring to Judith Morgan’s “Her World” of Oct. 20, “It’s Definitely a Dog’s Life in France.” My husband and I and our daughter-in-law took a sleeper from Milan to Paris. While we shared a compartment with three bunk beds, one on top of the other (fun, but too much togetherness), we observed a Frenchwoman in the next compartment talking and cooing to her little poodle: “Bonne nuit, mon petit chou,” while tucking him into a blanket in his very own berth above hers (there were only two), for which, I am sure, she had to pay.
