Firm Makes Its Mark in Real Estate

Signal Landmark, once The Signal Cos.’ real estate development arm, is included in the entities that will form the as-yet unnamed new company spun off from Allied-Signal.

Quietly, the company has become a major player in Southern California real estate development, participating in no less than 30 residential and commercial projects throughout five counties in the region.

The projects include community, residential, commercial and industrial development and land management. The seven largest are:

Bolsa Chica Project at Huntington Beach, a proposed marina development with as much as 5,700 residential units on 75 acres. Included are 1,300 boat slips and a 900-acre ecological park on restored wetlands.

Coronado Cays, a residential marina development on 200 acres on San Diego Bay. It was begun in 1969, and 1,300 residential units have been constructed; 400 remain to be developed.

Cloverdale Ranch in Escondido sits on 900 acres, with sites ranging from one-quarter of an acre to 10 acres. The company has approval to build on 640 rural residential lots.

Lancaster Landmark, in Los Angeles County near Lancaster, sits on 480 acres. Approval has been secured for more than 2,000 residential units and 20 acres of retail/commercial development.

Long Beach Airport Business Park is a 50-acre project that will include a Marriott Hotel and 1 million square feet of office space.
