Greek Air Traffic Controllers Strike
Associated Press
ATHENS —
Greece’s estimated 400 air traffic controllers began a hunger strike Monday in an attempt to win better fringe benefits and improved working conditions from the government.
The controllers are prevented from walking off their jobs by a government mobilization order issued six months ago after a series of walkouts at the start of Greece’s tourist season.
Athens airport officials said the action caused no unusual delays in plane departures or arrivals.
