AMC is phasing out the four-wheel-drive Jeep CJ.

The Jeep, the workhorse vehicle that came home from World War II a hero, will go out of production in January, American Motors reported. The little four-wheel-drive vehicle is being phased out to make way for better selling station-wagon-type models at AMC’s factories. The CJ--which stands for civilian Jeep--is the direct descendant of the World War II Jeep, which Gen. George C. Marshall immortalized as “America’s greatest contribution to warfare.”
