Mr. Field Goal Gets What He Deserves

Any coach who so stubbornly subscribes to the old axiom, “Why take a touchdown when you can get a field goal?” deserves to lose, even to an inferior team like USC.

It’s only poetic justice that a coach who eschews the field goal with fourth and two yards to go should beat the coach who goes for the field goal with fourth and two inches to go. That game will not be a total loss if Mr. Field Goal has been cured of the damnable habit once and for all.
