Faith Center Inc., a Glendale religious organization, has lost its U.S. Supreme Court appeal seeking to overturn federal rulings denying renewals of the religious organization’s licenses to operate a Los Angeles radio station and a San Francisco television station. The court, without comment, let the Federal Communications Commission’s rulings stand. The FCC decided not to renew the center’s licenses to operate KHOF-FM in Los Angeles and KVOF, Channel 38, in San Francisco after Faith Center refused to provide documents and broadcast tapes for a commission investigation, begun in 1977, of alleged fraud by the organization. Center officials were accused of diverting funds for personal use that were solicited as money for religious activities. The officials said forcing them to turn over tapes and documents to the government under the threat of losing the licenses violated religious freedom rights.
