Japan Volcano Erupts

TOKYO —
A volcano at the southern tip of Japan belched smoke and dust in a series of small eruptions early Tuesday, shattering windows and knocking out telephones nearby but causing no injuries, authorities said. The four eruptions took place at Mt. Minamidake on the volcanically active Sakura Island.
