Actress Jane Fonda testified in Los Angeles federal court that she never received two albums that a husband-wife songwriting team claim were illegally copied by singer Dolly Parton for her 1981 hit song, “9 to 5.” “My lawyers advised me that I should not listen (to) or keep any unsolicited records or tapes (to avoid lawsuits),” Fonda said. Fonda and Parton have been sued by Neil and Janice Goldberg of Los Angeles, who contended that Parton copied their 1976 song, “Money World.” The couple testified earlier that they mailed the two albums, containing “Money World,” to Fonda and that Parton somehow copied the tune’s lyrics during the filming of the movie, “9 to 5,” which starred Fonda, Parton and Lily Tomlin. The platinum blonde singer has denied the allegations.
