National Technical Systems Posts Small Profit for Year

National Technical Systems reported sales for its third quarter ended Oct. 31 of $6.1 million, up 9% over the same period a year ago. Net income was $46,000, or 1 cent a share, up from a loss of $379,000, or 10 cents, a year ago.

For the nine months ended Oct. 31, sales rose nearly 14% to $18.2 million. Net income was $238,000, or 6 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $714,000, or 18 cents a share, for the corresponding period last year.

Calabasas-based NTS performs testing services primarily for the aerospace and defense industries. The company attributed its loss last year to a discontinued operation.
