‘Tis the Season for Parties, Day Camps Pageants and Special Events for All Ages

Holiday programs are being offered for people of all ages by the recreation and parks departments in West Los Angeles, Venice, Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades and Culver City.

Holiday day camps for children will be held in Cheviot Hills at 2551 Motor Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 24 to Jan. 3; Baldwin Hills, 5401 Highlight Place, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 23 to Jan. 3; Palms, 2950 Overland Ave, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 30 to Jan. 3; West Wilshire, 141 S. Gardner St., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 26 and 27; Mar Vista, 11430 Woodbine Ave., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 23 to Jan. 3; Rustic Canyon, 601 Latimer Road, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 23 to Jan. 3, and Robertson, 1641 Preuss Road, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 31 and Jan. 2 and 3.

Tonight, the Baldwin Hills center will stage “A Very Special Christmas,” a dance and singing program by children, at 7:30, and the Westchester center will have a holiday show at 7 p.m. “The Greatest Gift” is scheduled from 7 to 9 tonight at the Barrington center, 333 S. Barrington Ave.

Christmas community night will be offered at the Vineyard Recreation Center, 2942 Vineyard Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and at the Rancho Cienega center at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Oakwood center, 767 California St., will have its community party from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 21. A dance for teen-agers will be held at the Oakwood center at 8 p.m. Friday.

A preschool puppet show and a visit from Santa will start at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Palms center. On Dec. 23, the center will offer holiday crafts at 10 and 11 a.m. and movies at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Baby-sitting will be offered at the center from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 16 to 23.

At St. Andrews center, 8701 St. Andrews Place, the Rays of Sunshine Assn. Handicapped Group will stage a Christmas party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and a fashion show from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Sickle Cell Research Foundation Christmas party will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 23.

The Pacific Palisades Recreation Center, 851 Alma Real Drive, will feature Dan Crow, a children’s performer, at the center’s monthly Children’s Dinner Theater at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Crow also will appear at the Crestwood Hills recreation center, 1000 Hanley Ave., at 10 a.m. Dec. 21.

“A Winter Show,” a talent show, will be held at the Robertson center from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 19. The program will include a presentation by break-dancers. A preschool party is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The Jim Gilliam Recreation Center, 4000 S. La Brea Ave., will stage a play, “A Christmas Story,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 20. The center will hold a dance for teen-agers from 7 to 11 p.m. Dec. 21. A preschool Christmas party will run from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 23.

Mar Vista Gardens Recreation Center, 4901 Marionwood Drive, will have a Christmas party from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 24.

A senior citizens dinner party will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Vineyard center. The Fairfax Senior Citizens Center, 7929 Melrose Ave., will conduct a dance from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Felicia Mahood Senior Citizens Center, 11338 Santa Monica Blvd., will offer holiday music beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. A holiday theater luncheon will be held at noon Dec. 23.

A Christmas and Hanukkah party will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminster Senior Citizens Center, 1234 Pacific Ave. The center will sponsor a public New Year’s party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 30.

A Christmas dinner for the needy will be offered by the Bible Tabernacle Church at the Venice Beach Recreation Center, 1531 Ocean Park Front Walk, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 25.

The Penmar Recreation Center, 1341 Lake St., will stage a nature outing at the Del Rey Lagoon for youths from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 27. A holiday children’s party is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Barrington center.

Basketball tournaments for youths will be offered at the Barrington center from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 27 and at the Mar Vista Gardens center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 26 to 31.
