PEGGY LEE IN GOOD CONDITION

Peggy Lee was reported in good condition Friday at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, where she is recuperating from double bypass surgery she underwent two months ago in New Orleans.

“She has improved significantly from complications which occurred following her surgery,” according to a statement by St. John’s spokeswoman Terri Starkman. She said Lee’s condition was good but no release date has been set.

Lee, 65, was flown to the hospital Monday from New Orleans, where she underwent surgery Oct. 7 and again two weeks later after an infection developed. She was treated in Louisiana when doctors decided it would be too risky to send her home to California. She is expected to be able to perform again after recuperation.
