Protest Against Serving Veal

Eighbor incorrectly assumes that because people have a concern for animal welfare they have no concern for people.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

My husband and I contribute to the downtown shelters, have contributed to the organizations for the African relief and also contribute to the animal welfare organizations.

She refers to animals as “dumb.” I disagree with that entirely. However, she is certainly entitled to her opinion. I hope and pray that Eighbor is not of the opinion that a “dumb” animal feels no pain and experiences no suffering. Do “dumb” people feel no pain?

Let’s look at who is “dumb”: Animals who do not make war on one another or we terribly superior human beings who have been killing each other since time began, not to mention allowing the suffering of starving and homeless people to continue.

Oh yes, we humans are absolutely perfect. We choose to spend billions on weapons, etc., not content to live in peace. Why at least can’t we let the poor “dumb” animals live in peace?

By the way, I am a vegetarian.
