75-Year-Old Teddy Bear Sells for $1,000

Lovers of cuddly toys packed a London auction house Friday to bid for 186 early 20th-Century teddy bears, some of which were clothed in silk gowns or top hats.

The top price of $1,000 was paid for a plush-covered bear aged about 75 with big button eyes, an embroidered string nose and a pronounced hump. He wore a linen smock.
