PAGING MR. PARTY

Do us all a favor, guys--spare us the gory details (“Mr. Mister’s Mr. Party Turns Mr. Clean,” by Dennis Hunt, Dec. 1).

The first time I saw handsome, clean-cut Richard Page singing “Broken Wings,” I thought, great--here’s America’s answer to Sting, someone who won’t make parents cringe--a cute, all-American guy, but along comes Hunt to shatter the illusion. Now we realize that Page is just one more drug-dazed rocker who’s finally growing up.

By dredging up past drug and alcohol habits, reporters inadvertently glorify such behavior to impressionable young teens who idolize these guys. Furthermore, was it necessary to include Richard’s smug quote about his current use of alcohol?
