A proposed memorial to peace activists that would use the name of anti-Vietnam War activist Jane Fonda will get no support from the actress, whose attorneys have warned the monument’s planner to stop associating Fonda’s name with it. Attorneys for Fonda and her husband, Assemblyman Tom Hayden (D-Santa Monica), notified Phoenix taxicab driver Terry Choate that the two did not want to be identified in any way with the small park planned on the western outskirts of Phoenix. Choate had written Fonda and Hayden for help with the project. The two were active in the anti-Vietnam War protests of the 1960s and ‘70s. Choate said he would stop using Fonda’s name. “I respect her greatly and I’ll certainly accede to her wishes,” he said.
