Belcor Inc. of Irvine, formerly called TransSierra Exploration Corp., said it has reached an agreement in principle for the acquisition of a privately held manufacturer of polyethylene bags.

A Belcor spokesman, however, said the company will not disclose the manufacturer’s identity, the sale price or other details about the transaction until after the deal closes Dec. 31.

Formerly in the oil and gas business, Belcor now is trying to diversify, said John T. Clark, vice president for public relations. The purchase of the bag manufacturer is the first acquisition, he said.
