An undocumented Mexican worker was killed Monday at a Valley Center dairy when he was crushed by the bed of a dump truck filled with soil, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
Jose Guadalupe Torres, 22, a laborer at the Gonzalves Dairy on Guejito Road, died at the scene of the accident, which happened about 9:30 a.m., Sheriff’s Sgt. Chuck Palamino said.
A witness said Torres was leaning under the dump truck’s raised bed to examine a broken piece of equipment when the bed fell, crushing him, according to Palamino.
Palamino said the accident is being investigated by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
