The British government said that it will review security at the prime minister’s official residence after an intruder was caught on the roof and released without being charged with any offense.

Home Secretary Douglas Hurd told Parliament Thursday that the review would be undertaken to avoid a repetition of the previous week’s late night chase by security police across the top of 10 Downing St., Margaret Thatcher’s London home. Hurd said the intruder, described by police as a 25-year-old, unarmed Australian, was released in the absence of evidence that any criminal offense had been committed.
