Two Spring Valley men are dead as a result of an apparent murder-suicide Sunday night, San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies found Jeffery Lynn Bean, 33, on his front lawn in the 9000 block of Hamishaw Road with numerous gunshot wounds to his upper body after responding to a call from a neighbor who heard the gunshots. Bean died at the scene.

Witnesses identified Marvin Gerlad Myers, 48, as the suspected killer, deputies said. However, when deputies went to Myers’ home in the 9000 block of Birch Street in Spring Valley, they found him dead in the cab of a truck. Apparently, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, deputies said. A 9-millimeter pistol was found in the truck, they said.

Witnesses told deputies that Myers drove up to Bean’s house and fired several shots at Bean, who was standing in his front yard, then quickly drove away.

Detectives believe the incident occurred after a disagreement between the two men. The case is still under investigation, deputies said.
