The Nation : ‘M-A-S-H’ Units Needy
The military’s “M-A-S-H” units would find it difficult to do their jobs during wartime because there are not enough trucks and forklifts set aside to move and erect the metal hospital units, the House Armed Services Committee said. The panel criticized the Defense Department’s wartime medical planning and called for a new master plan to solve the problems by 1992. Rep. Les Aspin (D-Wis.) said: “In other words, these deployable hospitals are not very deployable--which is deplorable.”
