Cowboys’ Lockhart, Rams’ Dickerson Begin the Hype

Dallas Cowboy linebacker Eugene Lockhart has sent New Year’s greetings to the Rams’ Eric Dickerson.

“I don’t like Eric Dickerson one bit,” Lockhart was quoted by Jim Dent of the Dallas Times-Herald. “Never have. We’ve had a grudge on with each other that’s been going on since college. There is no love lost here for that guy.”

Lockhart played for the University of Houston, Dickerson for Southern Methodist. Saturday’s divisional playoff at Anaheim will be their first meeting in the National Football League since Lockhart became a starter.

“I don’t care what Eugene says,” Dickerson said cheerfully Monday. “I’ve got nothing against him.

“It started in my junior year. Nobody had run for a hundred yards against them, and I got 109. Then the next year a friend of mine did a lot of talking and got him (Lockhart) going.”
