Germans Battle Drugs

WIESBADEN, West Germany —
The West Germans have reorganized and upgraded their national drug squad in a bid to halt a significant rise in cocaine use, a spokesman for the Federal Police Office said Thursday. He said the government has formed a new, autonomous narcotics unit within the office with a staff of 200 and a mandate to focus on ways of containing the cocaine trade by cutting supply lines.
