The Food and Drug Administration said it will check on a finding that a Peruvian coca tea sold in the United States contains active cocaine. The report, in the Journal of the American Medical Assn., said that drinking two cups a day of Health Inca Tea could cause mild stimulation and mood elevation. It also noted that the tea leaves are sometimes chewed or smoked, and that some therapy centers use it to help addicts withdraw from cocaine.
