MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Three Mile Island nuclear plant needs to improve its employees’ attitudes about job performance, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Wednesday.
An NRC report generally praised the plant’s three-month restart program for its Unit 1 reactor, which was idled for 6 1/2 years after an accident damaged an adjacent reactor and shut down the plant in 1979. But the agency expressed concern over employee carelessness and two recent unplanned shutdowns.
