California Seat Belt Law

Share

The California seat belt law is reminiscent of George Orwell’s novel, “1984,” in which even the slightest details of our everyday lives are closely regulated and scrutinized by “Big Brother.”

There have been many attempts to justify this law, but there is only one concept involved here, and that is whatever measures an individual considers necessary or not necessary for his personal well-being should be entirely his own decision, and not the decision of anyone else.

There are many ideas that seem to work toward a desirable result, but that are simply not compatible with our right to continue to live in a society where individual freedom of choice prevails. If enough of these become mandated into law, then we eventually cease to function as a free society.
