Fountain Valley : Meeting Will Address Alternatives for Bridge

Share

Widening the Harbor Boulevard bridge at Warner Avenue or reconstructing it about 300 feet upstream are some of the alternatives that will be proposed Thursday by the Orange County Environmental Management Agency at a public meeting in Fountain Valley.

The bridge must be replaced in accordance with the proposed Santa Ana River flood-control project outlined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to Winston Mettke, a spokesman for the county agency.

Reconstructing the bridge, located between Warner Avenue and Heil Avenue, and realigning it to eliminate a curve would cost about $8 million and take 18 months to complete, according to estimates drafted by VTN Consolidated Inc. of Irvine, Mettke said.

Funds for the project will come from the cities of Fountain Valley and Santa Ana and the county, he said. The presentation to gain public reaction to the project will be held at the Fountain Valley City Council chambers, 10200 Slater Ave. at 7:30 p.m.
