George Foster, the New York Mets’ veteran...
George Foster, the New York Mets’ veteran outfielder, will be the highest-paid player in the major leagues this year, earning $2 million, USA Today reported.
The newspaper said that Philadelphia infielder Mike Schmidt, at $2,130,300, was the highest-paid player last year, but would relinquish the title to Foster, the only player who will receive $2 million in 1986.
The figures were contained in an 85-page document on salaries compiled by the Player Relations Committee. A copy of the report, distributed to general managers and executive officers of each of the 26 major league clubs, was obtained by the newspaper.
