Santa Monica : Subpoena Power Granted
City boards and commissions may compel individuals to testify before the City Council under an ordinance passed Tuesday by the council. The law permits a Santa Monica city agency, such as the Planning Commission or the Rent Control Board, to subpoena people and evidence. Refusal to obey will be punishable as a misdemeanor under the law.
