I was both fascinated and appalled while watching “A Citizens’ Summit” on KNBC. I was fascinated because it appeared to be an open dialogue between ordinary citizens of two vastly different nations (United States and the Soviet Union). However, I was continually appalled by the behavior of moderator Phil Donahue. He seized every opportunity to point accusatory fingers at the Soviets, to inject innuendo and inflammatory rhetoric and to kindle fires of controversy.
