GENEVA — U.S. and Soviet arms control negotiators met today to discuss space and defense in the first detailed session of the fourth round of Geneva arms talks. Neither side released details on the substance of the 3 1/2-hour meeting.
The date for the next session was not announced, but the meetings were expected to follow the same pattern as in previous arms talks rounds: space and defense on Tuesdays, strategic weapons on Wednesdays and intermediate-range nuclear forces on Thursdays.
