Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa, denied a personal victory in the Dec. 2 provincial election that returned his Liberal Party to power, easily won a seat in the National Assembly in a special by-election. The vote was held in a Liberal stronghold in Montreal that was not contested by the opposition Parti Quebecois. Bourassa, 52, campaigned on the need for a revitalized provincial economy.
