LTV said it will lay off 775 employees.

Hourly and salaried employees will be laid off because LTV Steel Flat Rolled & Bar Co., a division of LTV Corp., is closing some of its steelmaking facilities at its Chicago works. The Chicago works will continue to employ 2,300 people. LTV said it plans a “thorough examination” of staff levels at the Chicago plant and other cost-cutting moves.
