The State : Lottery Winner’s Woes

A welfare mother who was arrested when her picture appeared in a newspaper as a lottery winner is in trouble with the law again. A second arrest warrant was issued for Donna Lee Sobb, 31, of Sacramento for failure to make a court appearance. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department deputies cited her earlier this month outside a bar when they spotted her in an unregistered 1972 Cadillac. They reported she had no identification other than a checkbook, that her driver’s license had expired and that narcotics paraphernalia--a hypodermic syringe--was in her purse. She had been arrested in October after deputies recognized her picture in a Sacramento paper as the winner of a chance to win $2 million in the state lottery. She won $50,000. At that time, Sobb was wanted for failing to appear in court on a shoplifting charge.
