The leader of Lebanon’s Druze militia, angered by Christian Falangist rejection of a Syrian-meditated peace accord, said his fighters are resuming armed struggle. “We were hoping we would be able to tell the new generation that peace had come and let’s rebuild together ---- and here we are going back to the language of the gun,” said Walid Jumblatt, leader of the Progressive Socialist party. A few hours earlier, Jumblatt’s militiamen clased with army troops loyal to President Amin Gemayel at the mountain village of Souq el Gharb.
