Will go to Palm Springs for a California Broadcasters Assn. convention on Tuesday. He also will speak at an Imperial County Republican Central Committee reception that evening.

Assembly Bills Introduced: VDTs: AB2742 by Assemblyman Richard E. Floyd (D-Hawthorne) would require a state study of any possible occupational safety and health hazards connected with the use of video display terminals. A report with recommendations would be made to the Legislature in December, 1987.

Women’s History Week: ACR99 by Assemblyman Dan Hauser (D-Arcata) would designate March 2-8 as Women’s History Week, and would urge celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

Gray Market Merchandise: AB2735 by Assemblyman Steve Peace (D-Chula Vista) would require retailers of brand name goods imported from overseas to display signs stating the merchandise may not be covered by U.S. manufacturer’s warranties, may not include English language instructions, and may not be eligible for rebates.

Mental Health Insurance: AB2752 by Assemblyman Bruce Bronzan (D-Fresno) would require all health insurance plans sold in California to include minimum coverage for mental health treatment.

Senate Floor Action: College Student Work-Study: Approved and sent to the Assembly on a 31-1 vote a bill (SB417) by Sen. Gary K. Hart (D-Santa Barbara) to appropriate $1.5 million for a work-study program for college students. The money would be used to match funds put up by employers when they hire students to fill jobs related to their educational goals.

Bills Introduced: Bartender School: SB1595 by Sen. Nicholas C. Petris (D-Oakland) would require new bartenders to satisfactorily complete a study course approved by a proposed Responsible Server Training Commission whose members would be appointed by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
