The state Department of Health Services banned sale of two imported Chinese-type medicines, charging they could be fatal if taken by mouth. Supplies on sale have been seized in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento. A Department spokesman said there have been no known cases of death or injury attributed to the medicines in California. The two medications are Wong Lop Kong Oil, manufactured in Hong Kong, and advertised as useful in stopping bleeding and convulsions in both children and adults and Koon Yick Hung Far Oil, made in Singapore, and advertised for oral use in relieving various types of internal pain. The department asked buyers of the medicines to stop using them and to destroy any stored at home.
