The FBI entered the search for a missing Army weapons research engineer who reportedly has a top-secret security clearance. A spokesman for the U.S. Army Armament Research and Development Center in Dover, N.J., said Gary Gnibus, 31, last reported for work on Dec. 13. The spokesman said the research center is the site of at least one project related to President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, or “Star Wars” space defense program. The FBI and the Army declined comment on whether foul play or espionage might be involved.
