A suburban Dallas bank repossessed Tony Dorsett’s navy blue 1983 Mercedes Benz 500 SEL because the running back missed two car payments.

In a separate matter, a lawyer for First City Bank of Richardson (Tex.) has asked a Dallas County constable to seize enough of Dorsett’s property to cover a $107,000 debt after Dorsett failed to meet a Friday payment deadline.

Dorsett’s agent, Witt Stewart of Los Angeles, told the Dallas Times Herald the debt will be paid by Monday, before the constable could act.

Stewart said the car was repossessed because the Richardson bank garnisheed Dorsett’s checking account, causing his check for the December payment to bounce.
