Gino Casanova, the Vietnam veteran who fasted 51 days on behalf of missing servicemen believed still alive in Southeast Asia, ignored the pleas of his supporters and began a new hunger strike in Kent, Wash., an associate said. Casanova, 34, who has yet to gain back the 44 pounds he lost in last year’s fast, re-entered the bamboo cage in a pasture near Kent and vowed not to eat or drink for 10 days.
