Warner-Lambert Reports Losses for Year, Quarter
Warner-Lambert Co. reported a net loss of $503 million in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, which resulted in the pharmaceutical concern reporting a $316-million loss for the full year. The company earned $51 million in the same quarter the previous year and had net income of $224 million for 1984.
Although its worldwide sales rose 1% from $3.16 billion in 1984 to $3.2 billion in 1985, the company said it took a non-recurring charge against fourth-quarter earnings to prepare for the divestiture of its three remaining health-technology units. The charge, which also included manufacturing consolidations and other actions, amounted to $553 million after taxes.
