Women 49ers Edge USC--The Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team, ranked seventh in the country, defeated fourth-ranked USC, 76-75, before a capacity crowd of 2,252 at the CSULB gym Tuesday night. In a battle of two of the nation’s best players, USC’s Cheryl Miller scored 31 points and had 16 rebounds, and the 49ers’ Cindy Brown had 28 points and 20 rebounds. But Miller’s inability to make free throws late in the game was the difference.
